In the context of furthering the development of society, we try to give an example of maximum responsibility in all our actions.
With the approval of the Corporate Code of Ethics and Conduct of the Agbar Group Employees and of the Corporate Environmental Code,in 2002, Agbar has attached value to and started the dissemination of the priorities and behaviour models which are of the utmost importance in our organization. Likewise, the Sustainable Development Committee (the body on which are represented Agbar’s sectors and the areas of the organization which promote actions in the field of corporate responsibility) ensures that key values are observed, such as the protection of the health and safety of people, quality of service, protection of the environment and technological progress.
After joining the Global Compact, in 2002, an initiative led by the United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, Agbar is committed to embrace, support and enact, within its sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
Technological progress is also a value assumed by Agbar, focusing on encouragement, management and coordination of research, development and innovation through CETaqua (Water technology centre), which collaborates in developing a wide range of projects together with Agbar’s different companies and external partners.
On the other hand, during 2004 the Museu Agbar de les Aigües was inaugurated. This is proof of Agbar’s commitment to the encouragement of dialogue and participation with regard to society and the environment.
In 2006, starting from meetings of the Sustainable Development Committee, Agbar’s stakeholders were identified and specific commitments were established with them. Likewise, in 2008, coinciding fully with the Strategic Plans implemented by the organization, a Corporate Responsibility Medium-Term Plan was established, which represents an effort of future commitment to each stakeholder, as a result of which some of the commitments have varied or been extended.
All these initiatives are included, together with the commitments taken on with each of the strategic stakeholders, in the Corporate Responsibility Report.
